6/10
I guess I got my hopes up too high after hearing about how terrifying (in a psychological sense) this movie was and how the ending was this huge mind-blower that'll leave you a gibbering wreck for days...it reminded me a lot of Funny Games. Neither are bad movies, but I guess all the baggage they carry led me to expecting more. Maybe that's partly my own fault. Taken on its own merit, it's a good, tight thriller, but I was left going "huh...is that it?". I guess I'm just too desensitized.

The Vanishing (George Sluizer, 1988)
A Streetcar Named Desire (Elia Kazan, 1951)
8.5/10
Finally got around to seeing this after doing lots of heavy reading about Brando and having only ever seen him in the Godfather...he was everything I expected in this movie, although I can only imagine how much greater its impact was when it was first released. Vivien Leigh's performance was great if a little hackneyed at times...
Solaris (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1972)
