The original...great/weird Z-level horror gore from the master H.G. Lewis. Unfortunately I fell asleep in the middle of 2001 Maniacs (it was like 3am) or I would've made it a Lewis two-fer. I'm thinking about just buying the DVD box set and watching them all back-to-back. How can anyone not enjoy his stuff?

The Wizard of Gore (Herschell Gordon Lewis, 1970)
Little Miss Sunshine (Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris, 2006)
7.5/10
It was a cute movie...not the greatest thing ever but it was nice. The family was a little too cliche at times and their actions were pretty predictable but hey.

Mister Lonely (Harmony Korine, 2007)
4/10
Disappointing more than anything...I'm all for Harmony Korine making a more accessibly movie but he doesn't actually try to say anything interesting. The plot has plenty of fodder - a commune of celebrity impersonators gathering together in a castle on an island in Paris to put on a talent show for the other inhabitants - but it never really goes anywhere, which is a shame. There are some great shots, some vintage Korine moments of truly bizarre beauty and, like Gummo and Julien Donkey-Boy, some scenes I'll probably never forget...but as a whole, it just doesn't work.
